That day we’ve all been waiting for has come once again - PI DAY! In case you didn’t realize, today is March 14, or 3/14 or 3.14 - hence pi. I normally don’t update this blog anymore, but I felt obliged to post about this.

Microhooligans!

Posted by Josh

Maybe I’m a tad shortsighted, but I never could have even imagined Microsoft and Yahoo! merging together. It just seems to go against the beliefs of a capitalist, free market, competitive society. You guys are supposed to slug it out, not merge!

But then again, Yahoo! hasn’t really accepted yet. Still, it’s a pretty good sign when Microsoft actually offers to buy all of Yahoo! when an offer for only part of Yahoo! had been rejected before. $44.6 billion, the price tag is. Yahoo! has been “ailing“, now at a four-year low. Perhaps this is what Yahoo! needs, eh?

[Copy of Mr. Ballmer’s letter, via CNET.]

By the way, I like how he gets dramatic about dominating companies (i.e. Google).

Today, the market is increasingly dominated by one player who is consolidating its dominance through acquisition. Together, Microsoft and Yahoo! can offer a credible alternative for consumers, advertisers, and publishers.

And I like how Vista is one of the examples for “significant potential upside.

Just don’t mess it up, Mr. Ballmer.

My life is complete.

Posted by Anthony

Havent really posted in a while, but here it goes.

This is related to that previous post about the Logitech G15 gaming keyboard. Today I went down to my local Radioshack and to my surprise the G15 was only 50 bucks, with 50 dollars rebate. So i bought it and brought it home. I originally knew it was a good keyboard, but when i booted up my computer, I have to say its more than good. Its godly. Never have I used such an awesome keyboard. The LCD display is so kickass, and the incorporated media controls are so handy. Not to mention the super sleek design, and the two USB ports. Plus it glows. Basically, in the first five minutes of using this keyboard, I knew I loved it. If you’re thinking of getting a keyboard, I highly suggest the G15. Don’t settle for the competition. You’ll be glad you got it.

Macworld 2008

Posted by Josh

Holy foshizzles. I’d give an arm to be there right now. [Read Engadget’s “live” cover of Macworld, or maybe a more concise one on NYtimes.com.]

As of posting, Steve has announced a few important releases (that I care about, at least).

He’s announced a few “new features” for the iPhone, some of them things you can do by hacking your iPhone. (Multiple home screens, anyone?) Then again, there’s also sending SMSs to multiple people, as well as a new Maps application that gives you directions like a GPS. And you can move icons around. Ooooh. Four million iPhones have been sold over the past 200 days, meaning 20,000 iPhones a day.

New to iTunes - movie rentals (30 days to start, 24 hours to finish) for $2.99 if it’s old and $3.99 if its a new release.

Time capsule - back up data wirelessly to a remote hard drive.

Apple TV Take 2- Apple TV, but no computer required. Connects through a router, I guess.

The macbook air. Holy canoli I want one of these. 0.16″ thick at thinnest point, 0.76″ thick at thickest point. Full (mac) keyboad. Keyboard lights up when its dark. Multitouch support for trackpad.

The only caveat, if you consider it one, is the lack of an optical drive. That’s right folks - there’s no cd drive. You can buy a $99 add on drive, or, as Apple chooses to advertise, use the new “remote disk” features. In short, the feature allows you to insert the cd into the drive of another mac or pc and then wirelessly connect.

The USB ports, headphone jack, and micro-dvi are on a panel that folds out at a touch - as usual, the power supply port is the Apple magnetic thingy-ma-jig. Battery life= 5 hours, almost triple my laptop running the junk we call Vista. (But it’s so prettyyy.) 13.3 inch display, built in microphone and webcam, 1.6GHz-dualcore, 2gb RAM, 80GB drive, Bluetooth, yada yada.

Plus, it’s eco-friendly, with an aluminum, easily recycled case. Mercury and arsenic-free display, bromide and PVC free cicuit board, and 50% less volume for retail packaging.

All yours for $1799.

Macbook Air

I’m dying here.
