Maybe I’m a tad shortsighted, but I never could have even imagined Microsoft and Yahoo! merging together. It just seems to go against the beliefs of a capitalist, free market, competitive society. You guys are supposed to slug it out, not merge!
But then again, Yahoo! hasn’t really accepted yet. Still, it’s a pretty good sign when Microsoft actually offers to buy all of Yahoo! when an offer for only part of Yahoo! had been rejected before. $44.6 billion, the price tag is. Yahoo! has been “ailing“, now at a four-year low. Perhaps this is what Yahoo! needs, eh?

By the way, I like how he gets dramatic about dominating companies (i.e. Google).
Today, the market is increasingly dominated by one player who is consolidating its dominance through acquisition. Together, Microsoft and Yahoo! can offer a credible alternative for consumers, advertisers, and publishers.
And I like how Vista is one of the examples for “significant potential upside.
Just don’t mess it up, Mr. Ballmer.
